I should have actually referred to the Asher, Bailey, Emel'yanenko paper
before sending my last message.  They state "At present, the comet is
located near the LEADING edge (emphasis mine) of the resonant
concentration, while the Earth passed through the concentration a little
behind centre in November 1998."
