Was that a typo ? Did you 'mean maximum daily E' or am I being dense ?

Ah, you spotted my deliberate mistake!!! Yes, of course I meant the maximum
E-layer critical frequency. (Just one typo in many by the look of it! I have
corrected four more here!). This was very well illustrated by an article by
Kurt Feldmesser in what was then Wireless World, about ten years ago. If you
would like the reference (and can get access to back numbers) please E-mail me.
