(meteorobs) June 23 Observations

I was out again at the Pine Valley Viewpoint for 3 hours this morning.
The moon was up during the entire first hour and low rates were the
result. Only 4 meteors were seen during this time. The moon set at 2:29
am local daylight time and the remaining 2 hours were free from lunar
interference. There was a shallow marine layer this morning meaning that
the sky glow to the west was worse than normal. This kept the limiting
magnitudes a bit brighter than the previous morning. Once the moon set
activity picked up as 11 meteors were counted during the second hour and
the third hour produced 8 meteors. The Sagittarids were a more active
this morning producing 5 meteors during the 3 hour watch. No sign of any
Xi Draconid activity was detected this morning. The highlight of the
night was a long, dim 4th magnitude sporadic that shot high overhead
from the east covering some 40 degrees in 3 seconds.

The first column is the period watched in Universal Time (PDT + 7
hours). The second column is the percent of an hour actually spent
watching the sky during this period. Time is lost for breaks, plotting,
and data entry. The third column is the average limiting magnitude
during each period with a minimum of 6 estimates. The last several
columns list the activity seen during each period.

I was facing north at an altitude of 60 degrees. No breaks were
taken during this session. JLY = June Lyrid, SAG = Sagittarid, XDR = Xi
Draconid, and SPO = SPORADIC (random activity).

Beginning Temperature/Relative Humidity: 60 F (16 C) 27%
Ending Temperature/Relative Humidity: 59 F (15 C) 12%
