Re: (meteorobs) Re-entry



As almost all re-entries are of objects that circularise their orbits
before entry, I would have thought that even faint re-entries of dust
would last some considerable time and have a very slow onset.  However
I've seen nothing specific on this.  It would not surprise me that the
small dust re-entries disintegrate at higher altitudes without a visual
meteor?  Personally, I'd discount anything shorter in duration than about
20 seconds as a re-entry, especially if it was bright.
