Re: (meteorobs) Re: Rob McNaught

In a message dated 99-06-24 18:00:07 EDT, you write:

Bob<<
Speaking of insights were there not two founders of NAMN?
Oh yes, I recall now, you have forgotton about that other fellow.<<

Originally....no....just one and that was me. I had it started and
organized with people sending me reports 2 or 3 months before mark came onto
aol. When he did he asked if I wanted to start a meteor organization with
him. Being polite I let him in as a co founder and never elaborated that I
already had it up and going. Originally it was known as the Meteor Network.
After I let mark in, he suggested calling it North American Meteor Network.
Not wanting to discourage him, I agreed. A name change was insignificant at
that time. Before mark came on, I had wrote 4 or 5 meteor related articles.
At that time I would email them separately to each new member. Later after
mark came on, he put together the first NAMN metoer observers guidebook based
upon those articles by mostly editing what I wrote and adding various IMO
tables in the back. Later he got Gary Kronk to put it on his website. I was
given credit then, but after my departure from NAMN I see that I'm not listed
as one of the founders. Also afterwards he redone the NAMN guidebook and put
his name only on it. Mostly just changing a word or two and calling it his. A
couple of the chapters still has my name as the author, but I had a lot more
input into the other areas that bears only marks name. It would seem that
mark has been the one who have forgotten about the other fella. I still see
some very familiar screen names on the current NAMN mailing lists that I
enlisted prior to marks signing on. I'm sure they can attest to the above
sequence of events if necessary.

bob>> By the way I typed the note to rob while sitting. It was an innocent
pat on the back that you have turned into a mockery. In case you are
not familar withthat word it means you have turned it into a joke.<<

Rob does deserve a pat on the back. But the way you worded it, it was quite
syrupy and did come across like a joke to me.

bob>> You smart alec comments concerning professionals are completely
tasteless. You are the one who needs to get a life and to stop posting
 such garbage.<<

I guess being truthful can appear tasteless to some? There are indeed lots of
good professionals who mean well and try to intermingle with the amateurs,
but there are probably a lot more that wouldn't "lower" themselves to get
involved with amateurs. A very common problem in a variety of sciences.

bob>>What are you trying to do, force Lew to ban you? He
has been very patient with you but you are definitely pushing him.<<

I'm just telling it like it is whether it fits someone's party line or not. I
see my messages are already being intercepted before being sent on. To the
best of my knowledge, none appear to be censored yet. They all have
eventually made it to the list....but I wouldn't be a bit surprised that if
all my postings will be kept off for whatever reasoning?

bob>>One last suggestion: Why don't you start a fishing list so that people
who want to hear your fishing adventures can read them there. I do
prefer sterile messages to ones that smell fishy!<<

I'd think you would have a legit beef here if I sent messages that were about
nothing but fishing....but a small side note or two mixed within the overall
post shouldn't be all that traumatic for most people. It's been frequently
done here by others in the past and most likely will carry on whether I'm
here or not. If my opinions and insights upset you or anyone else personally
so much, why don't you just delete my messages when you get them? Sure some
folks may wish not to read them, but I doubt everyone does?
