Re: (meteorobs) Rob McNaught

Dear Starr,

Many thanks for your support on this issue. When I look back to 1996
when this list was in its infancy, it was occupied by a small handful
of experienced observers. We were hoping that we could attract new
observers through the use of the internet with us being the guides.
We (well at least myself) never dreamed that the likes of Rob
McNaught, Malcolm Currie, Joe Rao, and Peter Jenniskins would also
join us and also contribute their knowledge. I am also pleasantly
surprised that experts in radio observations such as James Richardson,
Thomas Ashcraft, and Jeffery Harris have joined us to contribute
their knowledge in an area where we were a bit weak.

This list has succeeded beyond my wildest expectations and has become
a leading source of news and information in the field of meteors. It
will continue to grow and thrive despite disagreements and those who
choose to emphasize the negative in their posts.

I hope this was not too syrupy but it is an honest account of this
list. I only wish that the IMO list was as active as Meteorobs so
that others across the world could enjoy the same information.
Remember back during the Leonids that it was this list that did not
crash and kept everyone on the edge of their seats as the reports
came in from all over the world of the wonderful Leonid display.

Clear Skies Everyone!
