I found your name on the internet today under the NAMN home page, and just
had to contact you. I hate to be such a neophyte about meteorite
reporting, but after what I say last night, I just had to contact somebody.
I am 50 years old and spend a fair amount of time star gazing (in West
Texas, there seems little else to do at my age). I worked late last night,
and heading home at 12:05 a.m., I saw the most brilliant meteorite I have
ever seen. It was traveling very fast, and left a trail that was blue and
red in color. As it approached the horizon (from my perspective), there
seemed to be a brilliant explosion.

I was traveling West, and it came from behind me (East, Southeast). I
first saw it at an elevation of about 50-60 degrees, and it appeared to
have an azimuth heading of 270-280 degrees. Midland, Texas is latitude
31.995 and longitude 102.0783.

Is there any chance others have reported the same meteorite? Is there any
web sight I that reports such sightings? Thanks for your time.

P. S. My employer is closing this Midland office sometime early July, so
this email address will not be valid much longer.
