I can't find any such info for the intensifier, but on the camera the manual
has listed it being "1 lux (F1.4) 0.1 footcandles". Noting some of what I've
already read here recently, that might be some of my problems?

From trial and error, this is what I've also concluded. With the help of some
PVC plastic pipe I've mounted the 1.4 lens in front of the intensifier with
the camera focused up close on the intensifiers screen about an inch or two
away.
