(meteorobs) EMO Operation Perseid 1999

A maximum effort photographic program will be conducted at Ed Majden's
EMO observatory at Courtenay, B.C. on mid Vancouver Island. Three objective
dispersive element spectrographs will be set up. This includes an F-2.9 -
203mm focal length modified Aero camera fitted with an objective prism using
4X5 Film, an F-2.8 - 80mm Zeiss lens 2 1/4 X 2 1/4 format camera with a 600
g/mm precision blazed transmission grating, and a F-2.8 - 75 mm fl lens 2
1/4 X 2 1/4 format camera with a Learning Technologies acetate thin film 750
l/mm holographic grating. All systems will be fitted with chopping
shutters. In addition to this, an image intensifier system will be set up.
This consists of a so called "astro grade" 2nd generation image intensifier
using a Canon F-1.4 - 50mm S.S.C. lens, a super 8 mm video camera recording
on standard VHS tape. This unit will also be filled with a Learning
Technologies 750 l/mm grating for recording spectra. A Sandia Labs All-sky
Fireball Patrol Camera will be in operation providing the time of bright
meteor events. A spare convex mirror has also been converted to a
photographic all-sky camera by mounting a Canon T-70 auto program camera
above it. This system will record fainter stars than the Sandia Video
system which will be useful for astrometry measurements. This program will
be conducted by, Richard Hill, John Purdy, and Ed Majden.

NOW ALL WE NEED ARE CLEAR SKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
