Re: Newport Beach
MAN IS ELECTORCUTED CUTTING POWER CORD

What's even more sad is that after 12pm it was cloudly in Newport.
All that work for nothing. I could not see the shower in Newport.

From page A-3, The Press-Enterprise, Saturday, August 14, 1999:

Newport Beach
MAN IS ELECTORCUTED CUTTING POWER CORD

A man was electrocuted in Newport Beach when he tried to cut the power to a
light pole so he could darken the street and view a meteor shower, police
said.

Scott Millett, 20, was trying to watch a meteor shower through a telescope
at his home on Santiago Drive, but light from a nearby light pole was
hindering his view early Friady, said police Sgt. Mike McDermott.

Millett broke into the base of the pole and tried to cut the main power
cord when he was electrocuted, McDermott said.

He was pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time later.
