(meteorobs) MS: gamma-Leonids
The next shower of note to radio observers (based on the listing of daytime
radio meteor streams on the IMO website--Table 4) could be the
gamma-Leonids (not to be confused with the Leonids in November). It is a
minor shower with a low rate, however what makes it interesting is that it
is a daytime radio shower. At the end of the message is a listing I have
prepared of times/antenna directions to try. The calculations are based on
latitude 44 deg. N. I've put an asterisk beside the optimum times. The % in
the list refers to the probability of hearing a meteor-reflected signal IF
THERE IS A SUITABLY POSITIONED METEOR. Times/dates in the listing are UTC.
Note that the times can change by +/- 3 hours.
Shower: gamma-Leonids
Peak date: Aug. 25
