(meteorobs) Leonid annual and outburst components

True that the Leonid shower is still almost three months ahead, but while reading some articles about Leo's questions popped up...

Leonid storms of 1799, 1833 and also 1866 seem to have been littered with bright fireballs, which is not the case in 1966. In 1998 the annual component (if I understand correct) returned with an unexpected strength and it was full of fireballs. The 'storm component' also appeared but only about half as strong as the annual component.
Were the storms of 1799, 1833 and 1866 caused by an abnormal annual component, or were these just some other storm components (other filaments). And how strong is the annual component expected to be this year?
Or is it nonsense to talk about annual components and storm components during years of enhanced activity since the stream is composed of numerous filaments.

Clear skies!
