 Question:

Is there any type of Sporadic E, Tropo effects messing the atmosphere
over the eastern sea board?
.......

I have read and re-read articles on this meteor stuff but they never tend
to say "If you hear this type of noise..dot it's..atmosphere..manmade ,,ect"

Hi Mike,

Greetings. Here are some comments and questions for you.

83 MHz reception conditions and 20 MHz reception conditions may not
correspond.

Are you getting consistent dawn meteor reception over long periods?

Have you positively identified your potential 83.25 MHz transmitters? I
think this is important to insure highest quality of data.

Have you ever done an assessment of local interferences that you might be
receiving? Your dipole antenna is open to receiving any sorts of
electromagnetic radiation from all directions, down as well as up. New
interferences tend to appear all the time. Also, there is a lot of various
interference that is capable of coming into your receiver right through the
electric power lines. This means neighbor's appliances and such.

There are some sporadic-E and DX email lists but I don't have any addresses
unfortunately. Maybe someone else has addresses. These lists are useful to
the radio meteor observers of course.

Write back and Good wishes,

Tom Ashcraft
