The field geologists found a 12 ft shear, along the slip-strike fault
(parallel & near to the Landers fault). It was on Lava Lake Bed (I
think it's near the area with the cinder-cones), they maybe renaming the
quake. The magnitude was updated to 7.1

Someone I know went out Sat night to Desert Center (just east of Joshua
Tree National Monument) for astrophotography. 40-50mph gusts, lots of
blowing dust, he had to ditch his plans. One of the reporters at 29
Palms (Sat morning, after earthquake) could barely look into the
camera, the wind was so strong. The news was saying on Sunday there
were 60mph gusts along Hwy 15, & cars were forced to pull to the side of
the road.
