Re: (meteorobs) Re: Leonid Meteors in the Classroom!

Hi, PB. Now is definitely the time to ask these sorts of questions...
There will be HUNDREDS of people asking these questions next week, and
doing so on our very busy list, while people are frantically trying to
communicate their scientific data, may not be well received. :)

As previously mentioned, you can find most of your answers on the Web
Sites I suggested. But here are brief answers to your questions anyway:

>1. Where would I look in the sky to see this event?

You can see meteors all over the sky - Leonids or otherwise.

Look toward a DARK, UNOBSTRUCTED, COMFORTABLE part of the sky...

>2. What would be the best day to start observing?

Nov 16, 17, 18, 19. ESPECIALLY Nov 18.

>3. What would be the best time? AM or PM EST. to start observing?

Not knowing where you are, there is no way to answer this! But if I can
assume you're somewhere around 40 degrees North latitude, then you can
try to start observing as early as 10:15 or so in the evening. If you're
in South Florida, Israel, or Brazil, the answer is totally different! :)

>4. How many days is this expected to last?

Activity from the shower lasts at least from 14-19 Nov. A "fun show" is
probably only going to be happening for 48 hours or so, world-wide.

Clear skies!
