Hi all,

Just got back in from 3 hrs observing... and after being promised - and I
mean PROMISED - clear, frosty skies on every weather forecast all day, the
entire sky was smothered by a layer of milky cloud. Every half hour or so
Jupiter made a valiant attempt to penetrate the overcast, but it was useless,
and after a few moments it was gone, like a Will'O The Wisp glimpsed in deep
forest. It was like being under a planetarium dome before the projector is
turned on... heartbreaking, absolutely, utterly heartbreaking.

So, over to you good folks in the west, or east of here if you're enjoying
clear skies, because I am admitting defeat; if you catch a glimpse of a flash
of white out of the corner of your eye, it won't be a Leonid, it'll be the
streetlights reflecting off my white flag :-/

Good luck everyone - make a wish on a bright one for me, okay?

Stu
