Tuesday fireball....

Hello all. This is Mark Steven Williams in Louisville, KY. I work with
Clear Channel radio...and have become the unofficial "astronomy guy" for
our talk show hosts and meteorologists at Clear Channel 84 WHAS. My pager
went off at about 0015 UT this evening with calls from our Chief Engineer
who witnessed the fireball...followed quickly by a call from our Chief
Meteorologist who wandered what the heck all the calls were about.

We received telephone calls from as far north as LaCrosse, WI, Chicago and
quite a few from the local area. All callers reported basically the same
thing...dot it was low to the northwest...seemed very close to the
ground...and was trailing flaming debris...etc. etc.

I was on for an hour with our evening talk show host, Joe Elliot. My intial
sense is that this was a piece of space junk that de-orbited because of the
timing and direction. Any thoughts on whether it was space junk or a
Leonid???

If you have any thoughts...post them here or call 84 WHAS at
800-444-8484....Joe Ellioitt is our 9-12 host....Joe Arnold hosts overnight
12-5am.
Mention I sent you...and meteorobs!!!!

Hey, I just posted a sighting, then read this. There was nothing posted
when I started typing!
I'm in southern ontario, a few miles south of Lake Ontario... and my
brother
and others witnessed it traversing the southern sky... from west to east
(can't be a Leonid ) !
What direction was your sighting ?
Bruce - Ancaster, Ontario.
