Re: (meteorobs) Re: Geminid peak

My experience with the Geminids have been that both the nights of Dec 12/13 and
13/14 are excellent nights to observe. Between 0500 - 0900 UT on the morning of the
13th, at least one of the observing hours produces more than 50 Geminid meteors/hour (A good portion
of these meteors are brighter than 2nd magnitude and display some fascinating colors). Then on
max night (Dec 13/14), the rates increase even further, approaching or exceeding 100 meteors/hour!
Unlike the Leonids that proved to us once again that it has a very sharp and sudden peak, the Geminids
produce significant strong meteor shower displays over the course of several days.
The Geminids have truly been my favorite meteor shower for the past 23 years!!!
