Re: (meteorobs) Geminid Weather Prospects

The weather charts for late Monday night/Tuesday morning still shows a very
significant low pressure system centered over western Tennessee. A cold
front should extend south from this system into the Florida Panhandle. A
warm front will stretch east from the storms to the Georgia/South Carolina
coast. High pressure centered near Lake Ontario will be ridging southeast to
the mid-Atlantic coast. It now appears that this high pressure system will
be just strong enough to block/delay the spread of cloud cover advancing from
the south and west. An intense storm southeast of Newfoundland will cause a
strong and gusty northwest wind across New England. Another low will be
centered over southern Manitoba. It's associated cold front is expected to
be draped across the Dakotas/Nebraska/Colorado area.

Clear to scattered clouds should prevail for much of the Northeast US.
Strong northwest winds interacting with the hillier terrain, however, could
produce localized broken-to-overcast conditions.

Broken to overcast skies should predominate for the Great Lakes, Ohio and
Tennessee Valleys, mid-Atlantic and Southeast as well as the northern and
central Plains.

Scattered clouds to clear skies should be in evidence for much of Texas, the
Southwest as well as much of the western-third of the US.
