(meteorobs) More Georgia Geminids

Here are the results of my second night of Geminid observations.  No fireballs tonight, but the Geminids were upstaged by the Sigma Hydrids.  During the second period it soon became obvious that an abundance of fast, persistant-trained  meteors were all converging on the precise coordinates for the HYD's.  Had I not known about the radiant, I would have still noticed this activity, given the similarity of the meteors and the ease in lining them up due to their persistant trains and the fact that most of the activity occured within a one hour period -- out of NINE HYD's, eight were seen from 6:45 to 7:49UT.  Two appeared within 4-6 seconds of each other.

Sigma Hydrid radiant very active.  All meteors aligned precisely with IMO visual plot for Nov 09, 1999.  Only meteor 35 has any degree of imprecision due to the fact that it appeared (as a near twin) within  seconds of meteor 34 and I didn't move my cord to it very quickly.  However, I was still quite satisfied with its alignment.
