(meteorobs) correction>Geminids Observation Dec 14/15 Singapore

Hi folks:

< correction - the date should read Dec 14/15 ( was 13/14)

Not wanting to miss any opportunity to view Geminids even in Singapore
light polluted sky, I went downstairs (I stayed at 12th storey) to check
out
my N-E sky. The sky is hazy with LM of approx. 3.0. Castor /Pollux is out
faintly visible at around 30 degree elevations. Saw two swift yellow
Geminids in half
an hour and I decided to stay on. Two hours ( UT 15:10~UT16:45 ) later I
have bagged a total SEVEN bright Geminids. The low number is nothing
to shout about. Of these the most interesting entires is a 'point' source
blue color meteor.

Early in the night (~ UT 12:00) I attempted dark-side lunar imaging
using my C8 and Watec 92h b/w CCD camera alternating between 'with' and
'without the f6.3 focus reducer. I prefer the f/10 which gave me a bigger
lunar view and won't oversaturate my sensitive camera. I have my C8 OTA
placed on a wooden chair , focusing /re-centreing is done through Sony
TRV99E Hi-8 4in LCD. However continuous cloud presence prevent me from
doing any meaningful recording.

My advise to city - folks. If you still can faintly make out ORIONs
major stars do not give up. You will be rewarded to at least the brighter
Gemininds. While others talk about encountering wild animals during
observation session, I have to choose my observation spot carefully to
avoid a dripping mop or leaking air-conditioner above my heads - 'harzards'
of observating in Singapore's high-rise housing estate.

Will try lunar imaging and visual tonite....
