(meteorobs) UFN
Thanks for your response Bob,
There may have been something that we did not
detect. During that period we were concentrating on the Cassiopaeia to Orion
region (those being in the peripheral vision area) with our backs to the light
of Ft Worth. Something may have eminated from there. It is my understanding that
there has not been a meteor fall from a regular shower - would this then have
been sporadic? There was nothing in the -8 to -12 mag. range I believe or the
shadow cast would have captured our attention.
Something else I recalled after my email yesterday
was the fact that due east of us about 20 feet and about 30 feet up were a pair
of power lines serving the rural area. I have heard peculiar noises from these
at other locations but usually of a type of sound that is readily
identifiable as some kind of electrical buzzing.
Back to small meteor falls. How far away would this
have been travelling? How was it determined that the meteor was pebble sized? If
it was nearby, we didnt hear anything like a thump or any other noise to connect
to it.
Anyway, thanks again.
Tom
