(meteorobs) Geminids coincidence?

This, from a friend of mine, Doug Freestone, VE5UF, who lives in
Sasketchewan Province, Canada, just south of Saskatoon. Doug caught "Meteor
Fever" late Monday and stayed home yesterday to recover. While doing so, he
was able to "briefly" get out of bed and operated his ham radio on 144 MHz
during the Geminids. Along with a number of other hams in the plains states
and provinces, he did pretty well, too :o)

>Good Morning. Story of the Day...
>
>The first part of my commute to work is a 12-mile stretch of rural
>highway - little traffic and headed due north.
>
>Yesterday, I stayed home, but on Monday, at 14:04UT I saw a fireball
>in the NW sky. It passed in about 2 seconds. It started at Az 330
>and Elev 30 and decended northbound, disappearing at about Az 350
>and El 10. At that time of the AM (8:04 local) it's still dark; there
>is major light in the eastern sky and it's 45 mins before sunrise,
>but enough light to drive w/o headlights if it weren't illegal.
>So far, it's only an interesting sighting, but not remarkable.
>
>Yesterday, I did not make the trip.
>
>This morning, I saw ANOTHER fireball, on almost the same track
>but at 14:06UT and I was at the time within a few miles of Monday's
>sighting. This one was more northerly - started at AZ 340, EL 30
>and decended to El 10 at AZ 10-15.
>These were not Blue Whizzers - just pure white hot light - no fiery
>trail of burning debris.
>
>Skies were "scattered, broken - visibility 20 miles" on both days
>with "ice crystals" added for this morning. Very little cloud in that
>direction.
>
>Is my highway possessed? Are there Visitors? Will I see one tomorrow?
