(meteorobs) Another (small) meteorite in Australia...maybe?

Hi all

I thought you guys may be interested in the following article that was in
"The Australian" newspaper yesterday (Thursday, 16 Dec).

"Three Strikes, you're Outer Space
----------------------------------

When Paul Hancock was woken by a deafening crash late on Tuesday night, he
thought the family's pet goanna had crashed through the ceiling.

But when he saw the half-metre hole in his roof, he knew whatever it was
had to have come from further above.

Police in Dunbogan, on the NSW mid-north coast, said initial
investigations suggested the 1 sq cm object was a meteorite, making it the
third such incident in a week.

Mr Hancock said his 20-year old son, Simon, had been watching television
immediately beneath the hole in the ceiling about half an hour before the
meteorite struck. "We've got a goanna that lives in the roof and initially
I thought the goanna had fallen through the ceiling", he said.

Mr Hancock found pieces of blackened roof tile that he concluded have been
scorched by the heat."

I was unable to find any mention in other newspapers or followups to the
story, today on the web.

Cheers
