A group of meteor observers are forming the Eastern Australian Meteor
Observers network, so expect some fuller reports of meteor activity next year.

I was viewing from Suburban Melbourne (Victoria 37.8500S, 145.3670E) about
8 K from the city centre.

On the morning of the 14th from 0.55 to 1.45 AEDST, I saw ONE geminid (and
one
sporadic) with a limiting Magnitude of 5.0 and the radiant around 10 to 15
deg above the horizon.

On the evening of the 14th, encroaching high level cloud in the north west
made me abandon my Lunar Geminids observations, and stuffed up my
observation of the close approach of Mars and Uranus, so I decided to got
to bed early, got my gear set-up and alarm set and headed to bed.

And slept through my alarm!!! Not only that, my wife slept through it, and
the baby slept through his customary 1.00 am feed. <sigh> When I got up at
5.30 am, the north eastern sky was covered in cloud, and another caostal
Victorian observer told me that high cloud blotted out his view, so I don't
feel so bad. However, a Melbourne observer in the northern mountains had a
splendid view, so I still feel a bit of a git for not waking up.

From Roberts post:

From EAMO member Greg Hudson at Olinda
Dec 14/15 LM 6.2 (~40 K north of the city centre of Melbourne)
