Re: (meteorobs) Lynx activity Jan 04?

I did see a couple of visual meteors casually (out of about 30) on
January 3.4-3.7 which could have emanated from the putative Lyncid
radiant. One was noticeably red (well this was very obvious and it's
stayed in memory) and ran just north of the Plough and close to Mizar.
There was another medium-slow -1 which went down through Ursa Minor,
aligned with the `radiant' but the path length was too long. There
might have been another +5 one earlier. I didn't note those down,
only the high frequency.

Whether or not there is a radiant, I'd like to see more plotting
to investigate the minor showers. Even on Quadrantid nights it's
possible to plot before the Quadrantid radiant reaches a decent
altitude. In Hawaii, that's most of the night.

If you plot during the oft neglected next few months, there's a
greater chance of a surprise.

Sporadically,

Malcolm
