(meteorobs) short & long burns

I'm shooting from the hip here but here may be a
couple of explanations. Variations in the density of the upper atmosphere over a
short term (if it does vary) could account for some of the differences.
What about.... Paths which vary slightly within the stream. Some variation
in the frontal surface area or composition of the meteor as it
burns. Pure speculation here
