(meteorobs) small moon
Commonly the moon is reported to appear quite large
or larger than normal when full and the moon is near the horizon. This illusion
is attributed to it closeness to landmarks, trees or other familiar
objects. Conversely when the moon is high in the sky the are no distant
objects to reference it to and so, visually, it will appear smaller.
During this eclipse, the moon was quite high and so probably contributed to this
impression. Like Jure, I believe this impression is aided by the reduced
brightness.
