(meteorobs) Early Evening Observing session Jan 23/24.

After a week of cloudy, wet weather in Hawaii, the skies cleared just in
time for a window of opportunity for the evening meteors. I put in 1hr
of Teff, just before moonrise, from my backyard in Maui. Even though the
LM was only 6.1 here, I was not interested in driving 2000m up the
mountain for just an hour of observing.

Nothing too unusual to report from my naked eye session, just a good
showing for DCA (3) compared to 4 SPO.

However, about a half hour earlier, while observing the comet Machholz 2
in my 10x50B, I saw a +9.5 anti-apex meteor cross my field! Considering
these meteors are rare anyway, I am quite pleased with this stroke of
luck!

Mike.
