One small correction to what Lew wrote:

Actually they are in orbital motion with the moon around the earth and the
locations are what are called points of gravitiationallly stable
equilibrium like a marble at the bottom of a bowl. Any reasonable force
which peturbs them from their location will not change their orbit because
just like the marble which when moved oscillates around the bottom of the
bowl, they likewise osscillate around their stable position. But they are
in orbit around the earth or sun. The Trojan asteroids occupy a similar
position with Jupiter and the sun.
