Re: (meteorobs) Rich Field Refractors

Robert, a refractor without a star-diagonal gives an image rotated 180o.
("Upside down", but not reflected left-to-right.) If you add a 90o "Star
Diagonal" in front of the eyepiece, to allow you to look at the Zenith easily
with your refractor for example, you get an image reflected around the center
line (in other words, right-side-up, but flipped left-right).

For this and other basic astronomy questions, I highly recommend some vendor
and astronomy magazine Web sites:

 http://www.skypub.com/
 http://www.kalmbach.com/astro/
 http://www.astronomics.com/
 http://www.telescope.com/

and in particular:
 http://www.telescope.com/interact/html.asp?page=Articles/Image_Orientation.html

As for your woes with your 2.7" focus tube, try posting a "WTB" (Want To Buy) on
the AstroMart auction site, "http://www.astromart.com". Somebody may already
have or be willing to machine a 2.7-2" or 2.7-1.25" adaptor for you... ?

Clear skies!
