(meteorobs) Camelopardalids Observed.
Last night, I attempted a short Teff session before moonrise, especially
to check for any possible "Camelopardalids" (=Cam?) which have been
mentioned on this list.
Surprisingly, in 0.83 hr Teff, I saw one strong Cam candidate! It was
unusually short path (7°) given its long distance from the radiant
(100°). But, the path length rule sets a maximum, not minimum limit on
it, so this candidate passes the criterion. Its velocity appeared very
slow, slower than the typical VIR, too. Its color was an unusual deep
red, that I rarely see. The only other possibility, besides SPO, is it
also lined up closely with a radiant reported near 11:20 +23. However,
that is not any known shower radiant. As a result, my conclusion is I
most likely witnessed a Cam.
Any other observers see something like this too?
Clear skies!
Mike.
