(meteorobs) Theta Leonids

Mike,
While I saw no potential CAM's last night, I again saw two meteors that lined up nicely at 11:20 +23.  So of course I find your report most interesting!
It would be very nice if anyone else could get out tonight and tomorrow to see if any more meteors line up with this radiant, which I hereby facetiously dub the Theta Leonids!  While it is just (barely) tentative,  I could see how a potential early-evening radiant might go unnoticed, especially in late March, because most meteor observers would prefer to be out when things are active, i.e. after midnight and later in the season.

Last night, I attempted a short Teff session before moonrise, especially
to check for any possible "Camelopardalids" (=Cam?) which have been
mentioned on this list.

Surprisingly, in 0.83 hr Teff, I saw one strong Cam candidate! It was
unusually short path (7°) given its long distance from the radiant
(100°). But, the path length rule sets a maximum, not minimum limit on
it, so this candidate passes the criterion. Its velocity appeared very
slow, slower than the typical VIR, too. Its color was an unusual deep
red, that I rarely see. The only other possibility, besides SPO, is it
also lined up closely with a radiant reported near 11:20 +23. However,
that is not any known shower radiant. As a result, my conclusion is I
most likely witnessed a Cam.

Any other observers see something like this too?

Clear skies!
Mike.
