Re: (meteorobs) Re: Puppid-Velids Outburst?

Thanks Rob,

If weather records indicate no activity, as my watching the weather
report the next day also indicated, then it may be that I saw an outburst of
Puppids on the night of 03/04 Dec. 1999 some time in the early morning
(03:00-04:30 -8:00 UT).

I didn't post this immdiatly because of my uncertainty of what it was
and later I had to find my marker post of the Puppids by you as it occurred
the moring of your post later that day (the other day I researched 7 1/2
days of meteorobs posts to be sure of the date, it took a while).

I wasn't aware of an active radiant that low when I saw the activity so I
thought it was lightning or sprites, so rather than recording information
like rates or magnitudes, I just enjoyed the distant show while I also looked
for local meteors and other phenomena, then some appeared to be meteors,
I didn't know what to think then. So be sure to look for Puppid activity next
year, however, it could have been a singular, rare event. It seems to me
that for a ten to fifteen minutes there were several meteors per minute,
perhaps more.
