(meteorobs) Observations May 6/7

Hi!

After a spell of bad weather I the sky cleared and I was able
to observe for 3 hours last night. The LM was quite bad in the
beginning but improved in the third hour tremendously. At the
end of my third hour my Mom showed up in the backyard.
That's bad news. I tried to convince her I want to observe for
another hour or so (had she allowed me to observe for this
'hour' I'd have stayed out till dawn...). But, I didn't convince her
so I had to pack up after my third hour. I was really mad.
Anyway, the activity was good. There were several good meteors.
The first good one appeared at 22:58 local in Cepheus, low
in the north. It was a medium speed -0.5 yellow sporadic with
a wake. The next good one was a +0.5 MVI going 30 degrees
in 2 seconds shooting down from UMa towards the northwestern
horizon. But the best appeared at 00:26, a -0.5 yellow-orange
fragmenting SPO with a red wake, shooting down Serpens.
The LM in the beginning was around +6.3, but after midnight
it improved to +6.5 and better...
I also noticed that I was seeing a lot of faint meteors, I saw
many +5. magnitude meteors, many of them were only 2 to 4
degrees long. I see these meteors regularly but there seemed
to be a lot of them tonight. Interestingly, no SAG were seen.
The third period was a bit on the weak side, I expected more
sporadics with the good Lm.
Anyway, the summary:

Period F	Lm	teff(h)	SPO MVI ABO ECL TOT
19:58-20:58UT	1.00	6.25	0.97	7 0 0 0 7
20:58-21:59UT	1.00	6.41 0.96	9 1 0 0 10
22:05-23:09UT	1.00	6.50 0.97 10 0 1 0 11
				2.90 26 1 1 0 28

Magnitude distribution:

SPO:	-1(1) 0(1.5) +1(1.5) +2(3.5) +3(4.5) +4(7) +5(6) +6(1)

MVI:	0(0.5) +1(0.5)

ABO:	+4(1)

I hope to get out again on Tuesday/Wednesday night...

Clear skies!
