On the other hand Lew, suppose (though we all knew at the onset that the
odds were weighed strongly against it) a brief but unusually heavy outburst
of meteors associated with Comet LINEAR occurred? Had THAT indeed taken
place, then we would no doubt have had news headlines generated such as
"Astronomers Caught Off-Guard by New Meteor Display!" Sometimes, in judging
what is the right call to make ("promote or keep mum") you can get caught
between a rock and a hard place over such circumstances! -- joe rao
