(meteorobs) Observations June 3/4: no Arietids

Hi!

Last night I observed for 4 hours. After some cirrus clouds passed over
during the day, the sky cleared up during the evening. It looked promising
but the LM's were almost constant at 6.0 with a minor drop to 6.2 during
the last period. The first three periods the activity was low, I was
constantly
considering taking a break, but every time I decided to do a break, a
meteor
appeared and I stayed a bit longer. When my batteries failed during the
second hour, I took a 13 minute break. I bet I didn't miss anything...
The primary reason for my observations was to catch a potential
Arietid grazer. I observed quite long into some serious twilight, but none
appeared. I guess I'll have to try again tonight :) If you look at the
summary, you'll see that the fourth hour exploded with meteors. There
were meteors everywhere. My plots reveal no less than 7 meteors
coming from the northern and 2 meteors from the southern branch
of the apex. The first really good meteor appeared at the end of the
first period, a loong (40 degrees) +2.0 yellow meteor with a 2 second
train. Looked much like an early evening Perseid. Two other good meteors
were a pair of 0 mags from apex. One was yellow with a 0.5 second train,
the other pure white, only 4 degrees long with a 4 second train. Tons of
mostly bright (!!) meteors during that hour.
I had a meteor that lined up with the Arietid radiant, the speed was also
OK, but it was too short...
The summary:

Period F	Lm	teff	SAG	OSC	DAR	SPO	TOT
20:45-21:45UT	1.00	6.08	0.95	0	1	-	8	9
21:45-22:45UT	1.00	6.06	0.74	1	0	-	5	6

00:05-01:05UT	1.00	6.19	0.95	0	0	0	20	20
01:05-01:30UT	1.00	5.99	0.39	0	0	0	6	6
				4.01	2	1	0	45	48

Magnitude distribution:
SPO:	0(3) +1(3) +2(9) +3(12.5) +4(12) +5(5) +6(0.5)

SAG:	+1(0.5) +2(0.5) +3(1)

OSC:	+4(1)

During this night's observations I have passed my 100 hour mark. In fact, I
now
have 103.99hrs teff with 1175 meteors this year so far. I'll be out again
tonight,
but only during the morning hours...

Clear skies!!
