(meteorobs) Observations June 6/7: sporadics good but faint + no Arietids

Hi!

Although a cold front was passing through I managed to pick
up a small hole in the clouds on the satellite images. I figured
it would pass sometime in the morning. True to my expectations
the sky cleared at 1 am and I started my watch. LM at the
beginning was not good, but it plunged during the next hour
and a half going from +5.66 at 1:00 to +6.41 at 2:30 local. It was
improving so rapidly that I had to do LM counts every 10 minutes
instead of the usual 20 - 30 minutes!
The activity was a bit down from yesterday. There were tons of
meteors, but these were primarily faint, quite in contrast with
yesterday! The best was a short 3 degrees long +0.5 yellow
sporadic in UMi. No other noteworthy meteors. Just as I was
entering the prime time for Arietids, clouds rolled in and that
was that. Too bad :( No Arietids. Perhaps tonight...
The northern apex branch was again active, producing two
swift, faint meteors, while the southern branch again produced
none.
It was interesting as you could feel the cold front coming -
there was a rather weak, but constant easterly wind and
the temperature was dropping noticeably!
The summary:

Period F	Lm	teff	SAG	OSC	DAR	SPO	TOT
22:58-23:48UT	1.02	6.11	0.95	0	0	0	13	13
23:58-00:37UT	1.05	6.30	0.63	2	0	0	3	5
				1.58	2	0	0	16	18

Magnitude distribution:
SPO:	0(0.5) +1(0.5) +2(3) +3(3) +4(3.5) +5(5.5)

SAG:	+3(0.5) +4(1.5)

The moon is now entering the evening sky, so soon there will
be only the morning hours left with dark sky. The night here
is getting painfully short, as there are only 4 hours available
for observing. But there are other things to pay some attention
to - comet LINEAR is climbing higher into morning sky and
the Sun has become exteremely active. We might be in for
some more auroral displays.

Clear skies!!
