Re: (meteorobs) Two questions about Leonids 2000
Have any predictions been made for dust trails
older than 10 revolutions?
Asher did not do any such predictions, but perhaps
Lyytinen did it? Or
is the dispersion rate of a dust trail so big that
the activity increase when
crossing an old trail would be insignificant to
visual observers?
Btw, to Rob McNaught: do the predictions include
preturbation of
parts of trails? Is it possible that we might cross
the trail just in the
place where it has been preturbed away? Is there a
good possibility
we may encounter a small part of a dust trail that
originally didn't
cross Earth's orbit, but now does so?
Aaaaalright, this should keep the discussion alive.
But, seriously,
these are serious questions, not an attempt to get
the list going!
Clear skies!
