Nonetheless, there was quite a "too-do" back in the early/mid '80's 
concerning the return of Halley possibly enhancing the normal activity rates 
of both the Eta Aquarid and Orionid swarms.  I even saw some references 
suggesting that there might even be meteor storms resulting from the '86 
apparition!  Of course . . . nothing of the like transpired.
