(meteorobs) Re: Large Flash Observed Over Eastern Canada Skies

>>It turns out some blazing objects were actually test flares a Hercules
aircraft was dropping as part of an exercise with the coast guard cutter
Sambro.

"A number of flares were dropped from the aircraft as part of the exercise,"
an official said.

But a Porters Lake resident said a "fireball" that lit the sky in that area
seemed close and much brighter than a military flare.<<

It sounds like a meteor or satellite reentry to me. If it was a flare, it
would appear to hang in the sky....particularly if the viewers are several or
more miles away. This is what happened in Phoenix, Arizona about 4 years ago.
A lot of UFO fruitcakes and nuts still think Extra Terrestrials were doing
their thing over Phoenix. :o) In actuality it was the Maryland National
Guard dropping flares out over a distant military gunnery range.
