(meteorobs) Observation Oct 28/29

Hi All!

I observed from Smartno, a site about 7 km from my home. As
soon as I got out of the house I saw a -2 Taurid that shot through
Orion. Not to miss any similar meteors I arrived to my observing
place quickly.
Observing conditions were not great as the skies were hazy most
of the session. Thus, LMs were in the +6.3-6.4 range throughout
the session.
The first period started with many meteors, 6 were recorded in the
first nine minutes. Orionid ZHR was around 6/hour while combined
Taurid rates were 5/hour. Best meteors of this period were a -2
mag sporadic shooting throough Ursa Major and an orange -0.5
magnitude NTA.
The second period was more active still. It produced 6 ORI and 4
TAU along with 15 sporadics! Five negative-magnitude meteors
were recorded but the one I liked the most was an orange +1.5
magnitude NTA sparkling through Monoceros.
In the last hour haze cleared somewhat but the meteors were faint
and rare. Only 12 meteors were recorded during the last period,
brightest being a +1 northern apex meteor.
Nevertheless it was a great night with lots of bright meteors! I hope
to have a similar one soon!
