Sounds like a nice meteor, but not what I'm describing. What I mean is
something that looks like a little piece of fairly bright aurora that only
lasts a second or less. I still go with a handfull of sand theory, because
of the brief duration I don't go for a little solar wind idea. Besides I saw
them from Anza, CA. at about +34d which is awfully low for a magnetic effect
most of the solar cycle. The only other UFO I've seen was something entirely
different: It looked like a fuzzy, orbiting something (in polar orbit). A
lot like several globular clusters I had just looked at, except this one was
moving among the stars! I watched it move through the sky from Scorpius to
below Polaris in a 70mm lens-equipped intensifier tube. Now that was
wierd... Sorry, getting off subject.
