(meteorobs) Observing the Leonids from Florida
Hi all;
This is a general inquiry on people's observing plans in the Florida area
and to solicit help in equipment setup and observations with a professional
meteor astronomer. Dr Peter Jenniskens is planning to observe the Leonids
from Florida, USA on Nov 15/16, 16/17, and 17/18. The current plans are to
do triangulation with intensified video cameras from two stations. One at
the Kennedy space center and a second 200 km northwest at a Florida State
University observatory. In the event of clouds the teams will be mobile.
He is looking for help from amateur meteor observers who would like to
participate with the teams or join us for observations in general. Anyone
familiar with alternative observing sites in the event weather forces us to
go on the road please contact us. Norman, Lew, and Kim what are your plans?
