I assume these were moving towards the horizon.  What azimuth..west, south,
north?

I remember from '98 Leonids, at my Anza Borrego site (western USA), there was
a flurry of activity near dawn: ~3:00-5:00am, I remember a huge fireball near
Orion (setting in the west).

I just got back from observing from Mt. Wilson.  I was disappointed not to see
any huge fireballs.  I didn;t
see any "flurry" 3:00-5:00am.
