(meteorobs) Report from USA (western) 11/16-17

I enjoyed the brighter 11/16-17 Leonids despite the moon.
For 11/17-18 I will travel to the Columbia River Gorge to hopefully get
to a LM of 5 or better.
The Pacific NW is actually clear for November Leonids !
Anyone in Portland Oregon going to the Rose City Astronomers Leonid star
party tonight (Friday) at Rooster Rock in the Gorge ? (You can E-mail
me directly so as to save on cluttering the meteorobs list traffic
during this busy time.)
If the columns in the following report get messed up during E-mail
transmission I can resend this info out as a .TXT attachment. Just let
me know if this is needed and I will do so.

REMARKS:

Due to the quarter moon I did not bother to travel to a "dark" site
for this observation report.
Since the LM wasn't up to 5, I think I will travel to a "dark" site
for the 11/17-18 observation. Due to the moon I can probably only
gain a 0.5 improvement in LM but at least that would get me up to 5.
(A web page program I found calculated that at 30 degrees from
the quarter moon the best magnitude possible will be about 5.5
We will see.)
