(meteorobs) Leonids in Maryland

Hello List,
The skys in Clarksburg, Maryland were crysatl clear but of course so was the
moon.
Observed form 1:15 am until 3:00am Eastern Standard Time. Very cold.. Our
peek seemed to occuer between 2:20 and 3:00 am.

Leonids seem to come in bursts of 3 to 6 within 30 seconds to 45 seconds.
then a +-5 minute wait before the next burst. The highest 'simultanious'
rate was 3 leonids within a +-2 second period. There were many times when
there were 2 leonids at the same time.

I would estimate the rate to be 250/hr. Most were very fast with short
trains, but several did display persistant trains but non lasted for more
then 15 seconds.

It was a great show, and worth the water eyes from the wind and cold, ie 28
deg.
