(meteorobs) Nov 17/18 Leonid report

HiGH!

On Nov 17/18 I drove with 6 other observers towards a predicted
clearing in northwest Italy. After some 1000 km driving we found
clear sky and began observing. The activity was already high two
hours before the predicted peak. As I prepared for observations
I was seeing on average 3 Leonids per minute. The rates slowly
increased thereafter. Got increased cloud cover an hour before
max. The summary:

Period UT	%cloud teff LM nLEO nTAU nSpor
--------------------------------------------------
01:32-01:47 05% 0.25 6.2 36 0 4

02:32-02:46 25% 0.25 6.2 24 0 0
BREAK 02:46-03:43

04:28-04:43 45% 0.25 6.1 24 0 2
04:43-04:58 20% 0.25 6.2 24 0 0
04:58-05:13 15% 0.25 6.0 19 0 1
----------------------------------------------------
			 2.75 363 5 19

Mag distribution:
LEO: -8(2) -6(2) -5(3) -4(4) -3(9) -2(27) -1(59) 0(37)
     +1(49) +2(68) +3(64) +4(33) +5(6)

I quit at 5:13 UT but I got the impression the activity
started to rise again, as I was still seeing almost
the same number of Leonids but in ever brighter sky.

Clear skies!
