(meteorobs) more Leonids from Malta

Here are more results from Malta (all 3 observers at the same location) :

Alexei Pace
MeteorGroup (The Astronomical Society of Malta)
observing from L-Ahrax tal-Mellieha (35.956N 14.362E)

Time Interval (UT) Lim. Magn. Nr. of Leonids Remarks (if any)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
01:12-01:22 5.7 6 None
01:22-01:43 5.7 27 None
01:43-02:00 5.7 27 None
02:00-02:16 5.8 23 None

General remarks:

Meteors were mainly observed in short bursts of 2-4 meteor per burst and then no activity for about 5minutes, then another burst etc.

An abundance of bright (mag < 0) meteors was evident. Also evident was a large percentage of meteors leaving persistent trains behind them.

The following is a brief summary of my hourly counts observed from Mellieha (Ahrax point) on the night of 17/18Nov 2000. (Time=MET)

Start       Stop        Leo        Non-Leo     LM            OBSC
00:55    01:55        42        10               5.4                ---
01:55    02:55        105       9                5.3               ---
02:55    03:55        111       6                5.2               25%
03:55    04:25        55         2                5.0               40%

One thing to note is the fading in magnitude of meteors as time went by.
Also one bright bolide (close to minus 10)  Very bright blue, left a bright streak which turned green then yellow, persistent trail lasted over 20sec till
it got lost in clouds.
