Re: (meteorobs) Seeing the Geminids this year

Mike is dead on when he says that the Geminids will be very worth watching
in the pre-moonrise hours on all three evenings, 12, 13 and 14 December.

However, if you are ABLE to watch into the morning, you can expect possibly
higher rates as the Geminid radiant rises, and in particular, you increase
your chances of seeing any enhanced activity which the fairly "even" Geminid
peak may happen to produce...

So long and short of it - if your schedule DOES permit you to watch beyond
the early evening hours, then the ENTIRE period from local midnight through
to dawn on those same three nights could be worth watching! If you only go
out in the evening, and then again at 1:40am, and you only watch for a short
while each time, you may easily miss the best of the show! And if you want
to RECORD the Geminids of course, be sure to watch for at least a full hour
period, regardless of when you watch.

Clear skies!
